Meet the Team – Bertie

What is your role at Aqueous and what does that involve on a day-to-day basis?

Before becoming involved with Aqueous, I used to wander around the Beacon Beacons National Park munching grass all day.  But then by chance, everything changed, after I was fortunate enough to be appointed as the official mascot of Aqueous Digital.

Following a Zoom interview, where I demonstrated my extensive knowledge of digital marketing and agriculture, I landed my dream job and was promoted to the company’s Head of Turf Management. This was a massive confidence boost for me and I now take my job at Aqueous very seriously, that is, when I’m not horsing around in the field!

On a day-to-day basis, my job involves maintaining the luscious green grass outside our Sutton Weaver offices to ensure that its always ranked number 1 on Google’s pasture search (GPRPs).

I’m also Aqueous Digital’s spokesperson for fun topics and organiser of social events.

Tell us about yourself?

I’m a Miniature Mediterranean donkey and I live at Good Day Out in Wales where outside of working at Aqueous, I help deliver unique experience days for good causes.

As an attraction, we provide fun ways for people to easily engage with animals, wildlife, the countryside and rural skills, whilst helping the trainers to raise money for projects and charities. Every experience day and product purchased gives funds to a designated good cause whilst creating new employment opportunities and helping the local economy.

Based in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, we focus on experiences with an environmental, wildlife, or animal-related emphasis.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I’m a bit of a foodie and like to eat stuff.  Grass, hay and straw are my main signature dishes.

I know that Search Never Sleeps, but I do.  There’s nothing better than taking a nap in the long grass, especially when it’s a hot day and I’ve eaten too much hay!

Who inspires you and why?

Sir David Attenborough is my hero.  I love all the work he has done to raise awareness of wildlife issues and to encourage world leaders to commit to protecting the environment for future generations.

What’s the best thing about working at Aqueous?

I love making the rest of the team laugh and cheering everyone up.   Our values of Trust Loyalty and Collaboration (TLC) are really important to me, as well as our support of local causes and looking after the happiness and welfare of our staff.

Are there any interesting facts about you people might not be aware of?

I turn 10 on my next birthday and was born in the same year that Aqueous Digital was founded.

I was born on April fool’s Day and do like to fool around. In case you can’t tell from my accent when you meet me, I am Dutch, but have been living in the UK for a few years now. Luckily, I have now been granted permanent residency and love my new adopted home in South Wales.
