Specialist SEO Services for Newcastle Companies

Nearly every other search result that you’ll find today for ‘SEO Newcastle’ is going to say something very similar. It will be an SEO consultant, freelancer, or agency telling you how fantastic they are, and how they can definitely help you sort out your Search Engine Optimisation and get you to number one on a Google search.

No doubt they’ll have case studies of clients they have worked with and perhaps they’ll even offer you something for free, such as a website audit and review.

So, why are you not yet convinced?

The truth is that when everyone is saying the same thing, you don’t know who to believe. What criteria should you use when choosing a partner to work with on your Newcastle SEO? Does it even make a difference who you choose?

We can answer these questions, starting with how search works.

Why did you search for SEO Newcastle?

The chances are you’re either looking for a provider or you’re a competitor of ours (in which case, hello!). In reality, this just isn’t really a very well-searched phrase on Google.

Search has evolved and, honestly, adding the word ‘Newcastle’ to the end of your search if you’re already based in or around Newcastle-on-Tyne is pointless. Google already knows where you are.  More often than not, it also knows what you are looking for.

The way search engines deliver their results is probably completely different from the way you think.

If you search for SEO Newcastle and the business next door searches for SEO Newcastle too, there’s a high likelihood that the results will be different. The same applies for SEO Consultant, SEO Agency, Freelance SEO, or any other search term you can think of.

How can there be different results for the same search?

The reason is quite simple. Search engines these days don’t just serve you a result based on the words you type (or speak). They use a range of other variables.

Google uses factors such as where you are located based on your IP address, your previous search history, whether or not you’ve visited a particular website before, how often you make the search, when you last made the search, and what device you are searching on – to name but a few.

On top of this, it can pull in additional information if you’re logged into your Google account. It can see whether you’ve sent or received any emails from any of the web addresses which are in their search results, and if you have, it may choose to push that particular website higher in the results it shows you.

And if you use a Gmail account, Google can and will read your emails to see if this page matches with something that you have been emailing someone about.

Scary, isn’t it?

Does it matter which device I use to search for SEO Newcastle?

Yes, it does. Google’s search results are often device specific, so if you’re using a PC or a Mac, it will take your IP address as your location – unless you’re signed into your Google account, in which case it knows exactly where you are.

If you have an Android tablet or mobile, you have to sign in to your Google account for a variety of features, so it can often place you exactly based on GPS coordinates.

All of this means that what was a simple search query for SEO Newcastle has now turned into a challenge for Google, and as its main driver is to provide you, the end-user, with the very best search result, it can use any and all information available to do this and to give you the answer.

Google uses everything it can to give you the search result you want.  First time. Every time.

This is why it has been so successful over the past twenty years.

If Google knows so much, do I still need to include the name of the location?

Actually, Google now assumes that you won’t include that information.

In October 2014, Google released a change to the algorithm in the UK which was dubbed the ‘Pigeon’ update. What this did was start to use signals like those we talked about earlier to include more locally based results in broad queries.

So, for example, let’s say you search for ‘Boot Maker’ right now. Wherever you are, there’s a very good chance that you’ll see ‘Boot Maker’ in the ten organic results that appear.

Of course, since Google doesn’t know whether you want to find a local cobbler, find an album or band called ‘Boot Maker’, search for a programming update called ‘Boot maker’, or actually consciously know what a Boot maker is to begin with, it may well include any or all of the other results.

You can further confuse the search engines by doing the search on your mobile whilst on a train.

In fact, we tried this recently. It returned a Boot maker nearby based on Google knowing where we live, as well as a couple in Cumbria based on location whilst on the train, and a couple in Cheshire and Leeds based on where we’d been in recent weeks.

So, whilst searchers are inherently lazy (that’s you and me by the way, sorry about that), search engines will continue to try and find a way to get the result we are really looking for, using additional information to help them best guess our intent. Ironically enough, as they get better, we get lazier, and so when you’re looking for your local plumber, car dealer, or fish and chip shop in Newcastle, you no longer have to put in the word ‘Newcastle’, though it may well help.

Try a search with and without the word ‘Newcastle’ and see how different the results look.

Why do I need Aqueous Digital when I can hire a specialist in-house?

There comes a point were it is can be better to hire in house, but in our experience that only happens when your annual spend on SEO exceeds £70,000 (excluding outreach and ad spend).

Using a third party agency brings huge advantages, such as a whole team of specialists with up-to-date knowledge of digital marketing and the latest trends and advances in search technology, rather than one person trying to keep up with it all. Also, one person in house gets calling into meetings, can go off sick and requires at least a month off every year.

With Aqueous you get a team, not a person. You get experience across a range of sectors, not just your sector and as we invest in training and development, you get better people, delivering more value, more often to your business.

As well as removing the risks of recruiting the right person, we’re also likely to be far cheaper than hiring in-house and most importantly we are an agency you can trust.  Trust Loyalty and Collaboration (TLC) are at the heart of our operations and we place the success of our customers at the forefront of everything we do.

Why is content strategy so important for SEO?

Because people ask questions every day. They type them into search engines and expect the right result. That can only happen if the search engines can find the right answer. We help you create the right answers.

The very best content strategies are those that focus on getting you noticed in the searches that bring the best customers to your website. In short, it’s not about being popular or following the latest trend, it’s about relevance, accessibility and being there when customers need you.

The good news is that we’ve worked on content strategies since before it became a buzz word, so we’re well versed in what it takes to make your website rank.

Do you do offer black hat SEO and quick fixes?

Absolutely not. We always adopt ethical and ‘white hat’ practices when it comes to digital marketing, search engine optimisation, content production, reputation management and link building.  Quick fixes and artificial boosts are simply a waste of your time, and just not our style.

It is possible to get to ‘number one’ for a keyword within a few weeks, but if it is a particularly competitive keyword then the only way to do this is to cheat the Search engines. Some firms find this an acceptable solution, but as the Search Engines always catch up with this and penalise the site, it is short-sighted and ineffective strategy and not one we pursue.

How much do you charge for your services?

We offer a range of SEO and digital marketing services, starting at £500 +VAT per month. Depending on needs, we have a range of packages to suit most growing businesses. Contact us directly for a no obligation quote and a free audit of your website.

Who is Aqueous Digital owned by?

Aqueous Digital is an independent family-run business.  We are a limited company. Registration number in England and Wales is: 05604273

Why should I work with a specialist SEO agency like Aqueous Digital rather than a full-service agency?

There are many agencies out there who will claim to be ‘full service’ and jack of all trades.  In our experience, this is very rarely the case. They will generally have strong skill sets in some areas, but weaker delivery in other areas.  They will claim to be able to deliver all services, but will be sub-contracting some services without your knowledge. We are different, we specialise in search and reputation management exclusively.

What are your normal contract lengths?

Most commonly our contracts are 12 months, but this can vary depending on the work being delivered. We guarantee that within the first few months, you’ll know whether you like us or not. Within six months you’ll start to see some real traction and results. And within a year, you’ll know why you came to us.

Can you undertake an audit for my website to tell me where I need to make improvements?

Yes, we offer a free audit of your website. Contact us today to arrange yours.

How do you make sure the quality of the content you produce is right for my website?

We use a range of specialist professional writers with knowledge of a wide range of sectors. Plus, it all starts with you. We create the strategy, based on you on boarding call, and then produce content that we all agree will drive the right traffic to your website.

How quickly will I start to see results with my SEO work?

SEO is a medium to long term strategy and typically take at least six months before you start to see a tangible return, though sometimes, depending on what you are targeting, this can be quicker.

Will all my work be done in-house, or will you subcontract work to other companies?

We provide all our SEO services in-house and only outsource copywriting to select associates—this allows us to use the very best professional writers available.

Do you offer website design and build services?

We work in partnership with a number of trusted partners who are able to build and design a website to your specifications/budget and ensure it is full optimised for ongoing SEO work.

My business is not located near you, does that matter?

Aqueous Digital operates internationally.  We are able to deliver all our services remotely over the phone, via email and conference calls. We do love to meet up with our customers for a chat face-to face-too, so this is always an option for every customer.

How often will you report on the progress and success of my account?

We’ll give you monthly update reports on the progress of your online growth. This will be written in plain English, with no geek speak or marketing jargon and we’ll always be available at the end of the phone or email to answer your questions or talk about next steps.

What does SEO stand for?

Search Engine Optimisation.  If you’d like to rank highly on Google search pages, we can help.
