What’s the difference between PR and marketing?
Unsure whether to promote your business through marketing or public relations (PR)? Give PR and marketing are closely related and work in tandem, it can
Organic website traffic is the lifeblood of most modern businesses. It helps to reduce the need to spend money on marketing campaigns, and generates new leads, conversions, and customers for your business.
It’s never been more important, with organic searches driving 51 per cent of all web traffic and 40 per cent of revenue. This is why its generation is a key concern for marketing teams.
Get your business website in the top three search results, or have your website content as the featured snippet, and you’ll see a huge increase in organic traffic to your site. If you don’t rank on page one, however, the traffic to your website will suffer, ultimately having an impact on your bottom line.
So how do you increase organic traffic to your website?
First, it’s important to remember that increasing organic traffic isn’t simple. If there were a couple of easy steps to follow that guarantee your business appears at the top of search results, then everyone would be doing it.
Many are attempting to get there, including your competitors.
If you want to increase your organic traffic, then you need a strategy. It’s not enough to throw mud and hope that eventually some of it will stick.
A strategy needs to focus on who your target audience is, the questions they’re asking, and how they behave. Then, you can begin to answer the questions they’re answering.
You do this by producing regular, relevant, and keyword-optimised content.
But that’s not enough. You also need to ensure that your website is attractive, user-friendly and optimised from a technical point of view to give your SEO the best chance to shine.
Once you’ve started to implement a strategy, you then need to measure how your website – as well as individual pieces of content – performs. Is each piece meeting the targets you set and if not, does it need to be removed or amended?
If the content was designed to answer a highly-featured question and it still isn’t performing well you need to explore why. Is there an issue with keywords? Or perhaps there’s some technical aspect to the page or the site that’s holding it back?
A content strategy to improve organic traffic requires patience. It rarely falls into place immediately, but instead takes time to deliver results. Tweaks and amendments will usually be necessary, and with careful measurement of your website performance you can locate what needs to be done.
